Thanksgiving in Africa

Hi,
Well this week was pretty good. We had zone meeting and were able to watch the Priesthood Session of conference. My favorite part was when they asked all of the full time missionaries to stand up.... guess what I GOT TO STAND UP!! ha ha it was really cool. The talks were wonderful. We had a big thanksgiving feast last night. Christiana helped us get some chicken and she cooked it up all nice for us and then we had mashed potatoes and corn and stuffing man it was the best thing i have eaten in 1 yr. I laid on the ground of the apartment for like and hour because i was so full. So we also received Transfer news last night and our whole apartment is staying the same. We were way excited we all get along really well and wanted to be together for Christmas. Plus I really didn't want to go to Liberia for Christmas because I hear the Christmas conference in Sierra Leone is way better then the one in Liberia ha ha. But really im excited to get to stay in this branch. I feel that.... there are many people who haven't progressed and joined the church strictly because of my laziness and lack of diligence. So I'm really thankful that I can repent and get another chance and help these people come unto Christ. We seriously have some of the most amazing investigators right now. And I'm going to baptize all of them within the next 6 weeks. This transfer is going to be really eventful it is first my one year mark so I'm sure the apartment will all do something fun for that.... like eat more rice or something... haha jk. And then there is Christmas and Newyear so its going to be really good. Another cool thing that happened this week. Just yesterday we had our district conference.. its like stake conference but since we don't have stakes here then its district conference. But there was a all Africa stake conference thing that was recorded and shown in every stake conference throughout Africa. It had many different speakers like the Area presidency for west Africa. The young w omens president who is president Monsons Daughter. And Pres Packer. And Elder Golden.. who i got to meet in Bo! Anyways many really good speakers and they were just talking about the growth of the church here in Africa. And they talked a lot about the African Cultural traditions that are hindering the growth. It was pretty amazing. Here there is that whole thing where you have to pay a bride price to marry your wife and in some places it can be A LOT of money. We have one elder from South Africa and he was saying for some of the bride prices in s.Africa you could buy a couple of nice cars. So they were talking about how returned missionaries here aren't able to get married right away which is leading to fornication and different things and so that was pretty interesting. Then the most amazing part were the promised blessings that were given to the saints here in Africa. They talked about how if the saints here will live the lifestyle of a latter day saint. And adapt the cultures of the church and fulfill there callings. They talked about how much the church will grow here and talked about family relationships and all this stuff it was so sweet. It made me sad that i only have 1 yr left and that i want to see all of these things happen before I leave Africa. I had a huge impression while i was standing talking to my mission president afterward that if i don't get with the program the work is going to leave me behind. The work is really moving at a rapid pace here you have to be on your toes all the time. ITS AWESOME! I love you all so much and am so thankful for your love and support. Ciera prints out your comments that you put on my blog and sends them to me. I cant believe how many of you take time out of your day just to hear about how us Africans are doing over here. Thank you so much. Keep praying for us!

Love Elder Lancaster

I'm glad to hear you had a nice Thanksgiving feast! We do ours the Saturday before Thanksgiving every year, so ours is over as well. It was great fun, and was followed by a BEAUTIFUL snow storm. It's definitely Winter in Bountiful now!! I love it. Africa is so far away and unknown to me, so I love reading your letters and updates. How exciting that the work is moving forward there and you get to be a part of that!! There is nothing like doing the work of the Lord. I'm so happy that you are willing to take two years of your life and give it to the Lord. As you know, you will be blessed so much for that!! Anyway, happy Thanksgiving, and I hope you have a wonderful Christmas season. It's hard to believe you've been out a year already--wahooo!!
