Making A Straight Line With A Crooked Stick

Hello,
Well this week was good. The weather is really starting to get nice. All the other American elders are complaining saying its too hot but I'm LOVING it!! So we received transfer news last night and I'm not going anywhere and neither is my companion. I figured we weren't so i didn't really put much thought into it. Elder Intsiful who was my companion in wellington. He was my companion at the end of those other videos i sent you. He is being transferred to Liberia and Elder Moss is his new companion so that's pretty cool! My companion and I had a really really cool experience yesterday after church. We had planned to go see some investigators and some recent converts after church like usual and so when church let out we starting going there. The first investigator we went to see wasn't home so i said well Jemba (who is a recent convert) Lives close by lets go and see why she didn't come to church today. So as we were walking there i completely missed the road that goes there my mind was just completely somewhere else i guess. So i was like oh well there is another trail that takes us through some farms that can get us there. I don't usually like to go that way because there are a lot of drunk people and they always call out to us WHITE MAN WHITE MAN GIVE ME MONEY! And all this stuff. So i was like oh well we will just walk fast. So as we were going i just kept taking these weird trails and my companion kept asking me why are you going this way and I'm like i don't really know i just keep missing all the other trails and he just kinda looked at me like I'm crazy and we just kept walking. As we were walking up this one trail i realized that we were about to pass one of the really strong members of the churchs house. His name is Bai Sesay. And he wasn't at church today and i was like oh man i hope he isn't outside because he is going to feel weird when he sees us and we know he didn't go to church and stuff. So we kept walking and sure enough Brother Bai is sitting outside with his shirt off. So i waved to him and then i really felt like i needed to go talk to him. So i walked over to him and his eyes were all swollen and he just looked terrible and so i was like brother Bai whats wrong. He said he had gotten a Boil and now it is giving him a huge fever and that he is in so much pain. So I knew we needed to give him a blessing but i kind of wanted to see if he would ask for one first and so i said well brother bai is there anything we can do for you. And he said yes elders I need a priesthood blessing and i said we would love to. So we went inside and my companion did the blessing and during the blessing i was thinking about what really led us here. because i never go this way and i had no clue why i kept taking those trails and i just knew that i was being led straight. And after the blessing Brother Bai said Elder Lancasta i know that heavenly father loves me and that i am going to be healed tomorrow. And i said i know that too. i said brother Bai I actually have no idea what brought me this way because we never pass on this trail and he looked at me and said. My wife (Aunty Sally) Turned to me about 5 min before you came and told me to get up and get ready because the elders are going to be here soon..... My companion and I never planned to go to brother Bai that day..... Im so thankful for this experience..... I was in an interview with the mission president this week and i was telling him how i feel like i should be better at this work by now and he gave me some really good counsel and he said You know elder Lancaster There is an old saying Heavenly father can make a straight line with a crooked stick..... How true that is. I want you all to know that heavenly father is working miracles here in Sierra Leone. And we are so blessed that we get to be apart of it. I love you all so much And thank you for the love and support. We have another baptism scheduled for the 23 of October so i will keep you updated on that. Thanks again for everything

Love
Elder Lancaster

It is so wonderful that you are living such that you can respond to the promptings of the Holy Ghost. As you know, this is not your work, it is God's work, and this has been shown to you over and over again. Keep doing all the good you are doing and may you be blessed for doing so.

What a wonderful experience to be an instrument in God's hands! I love the quote. So happy that you are there, doing what you are doing. Keep up the good work Elder Lancasta!!

I love this story. I am going to use it in my Sunday School lesson this week. I teach the High School kids now and love it. And they will love this story, too. Thanks for sharing it. - Sophia Ford
